Jon Huntsman, Climate Science Skeptic

by Max Maghetti on December 7, 2011

Jon Huntsman no longer trusts scientists on global warming.

Jon Huntsman no longer trusts scientists on global warming.

What a glorious day!  Fellow conservatives, let us rejoice — for the stray sheep known as Jon Huntsman has returned to the GOP flock.

We all know that the Republican Party is the anti-science party.  And there is no branch of science we Republicans hate more than climate science.

I personally hate climate science so much that even writing the words “climate science” makes me want to punch my computer screen (and I win that battle 9 times out of 10).

The official Republican position is that climate science is:

  • At best, inconclusive.  Acceptable lines to use are “the jury is still out” or “the science isn’t in yet.”
  • At worst, a vast conspiracy of unprecedented scale… launched by Al Gore over 25 years ago, in which 98% of scientists have all falsified their data. [click to continue…]

The Anti-Science Pledge

Grover Norquist, Creator of the Anti-Tax Pledge

Over the last year, Grover Norquist’s Anti-Tax Pledge has received a good amount of attention – and deservedly so.  The modern Republican Party opposes all forms of taxation.  The Anti-Tax Pledge is what keeps the members of our party in line in our fight against taxes.

How important is the Anti-Tax Pledge? According to The Hill:

Signing it has become de riguer for GOP candidates running for federal or  statewide offices across the country.

Without question, taxes threaten our nation’s survival.  But we do face one threat that is perhaps even more dangerous. Yes, I am talking about the threat of science.

One day, while contemplating the danger of these two great evils – taxes and science — I had a revelation: if we have an Anti-Tax Pledge, shouldn’t we also have an Anti-Science Pledge?  At that moment, I knew it would be up to GOPscience.org to make the Anti-Science Pledge a reality.

Without further ado, GOPscience.org proudly presents The Anti-Science Pledge. [click to continue…]

The ‘Confuse the Debate’ Strategy

November 2, 2011

Heads need to roll.  A traitor among the right-wing has revealed, in great detail, one of our favorite secret strategies to Paul Krugman — New York Times liberal, winner of the Nobel Prize for Socialism, and our arch-enemy. The invaluable strategy I am referring to is, of course, “Confusing the Debate.” When science goes on the warpath, mounting a [...]

Occupy Science

October 24, 2011

Fellow conservatives, we need to do something.  Liberals are getting all the attention with their Occupy Wall Street movement. I think I have the solution: Occupy Science. We need to protest against science by occupying science-related public areas.   To counter Occupy Wall Street, I propose that we kickoff Occupy Science right in New York, at the American Museum [...]

New Feature: Enemies of the Site

October 23, 2011

We are rolling out a new feature here at GOPscience.org.  “Enemies of the Site” is just what it sounds like — a list of our philosophical enemies. Now, you might be saying to yourself, “hold on, isn’t having an ‘enemies list’ rather petty and immature?”  And you would be wrong. Having an enemies list is [...]

Evolution of Dance: Just a Theory

October 1, 2011

It is a well-known fact that we conservatives do not believe in human evolution.  Just ask fellow conservatives Rick Perry, Ron Paul, or Sarah Palin. Well, here at GOPscience.org, we have decided to raise the bar even higher: Rick Perry does not believe in the evolution of humans?  Well, we do not believe in the [...]

Rick Perry: Evolution Is Just a Theory with Holes

September 30, 2011

As part of our coverage of the 2012 presidential race, we are documenting the major candidates’ positions on scientific matters.  Where does Rick Perry stand on evolution? On August 18, while at a campaign stop, a boy asked Rick Perry whether he believes in evolution. “It’s a theory that’s out there,” Perry told the child. [...]

Ron Paul Does Not Believe in Evolution

September 5, 2011

Last week, video footage from a 2007 town hall meeting with Ron Paul resurfaced. The video is notable because Congressman Paul explicitly states that he does not accept the theory of evolution. First, Paul explained to those in attendance his views about the incompatibility between the presidency and science in general: Well, first I thought [...]

Fox Anchor Tells Bill Nye: ‘You’re ‘Confusing Our Viewers’ On Climate Change

September 2, 2011

Via TPM, Bill Nye “The Science Guy” recently appeared on the Fox Business Network to discuss climate change, only to be told by host Charles Payne he was “confusing our viewers.” In one particularly revealing exchange, Nye had trouble even getting Payne to agree that the Earth is getting warmer. Nye: Do you not agree [...]
